MIAD’s galleries serve the educational needs of students, faculty, and the general public in the arena of visual arts and design. This mission is carried out through exhibitions, performances, and presentations which embody a wide variety of disciplines, approaches, and artistic motivations.
MIAD operates several exhibition spaces throughout its campus which have their own distinct character and exhibition criteria. The two main galleries, the Frederick Layton Gallery and the Brooks Stevens Gallery of Industrial Design, are both nationally recognized museum galleries that feature ever-changing professional exhibitions. In addition, more gallery space can be found in the Entrance Gallery, River Level Gallery, and East Gallery - almost every hallway of the school becomes an exhibit space for newly created student and faculty work.
The Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD), located along the Milwaukee River in the Historic Third Ward, is an accredited college providing bachelor of arts degrees in communication, design, drawing, illustration, industrial design, interior architecture and design, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture.
