Indigo through Brown Eyes: Works by Mutpe J. Johnson
Focusing on political and social economic positions of African-Americans, Mutópe's current work speaks to the human condition. The exuberant use of watercolor and watercolor pencil, in varied and strongly patterned backgrounds and the expressive gestures of his characters, brings heightened energy. His robust figurative paintings provide as important link between the African-American Social Realism period of the mid- to late 19th-century and the African-American contemporary art scene today. heightened energy. Evocations: Photography by Daniel Anderson
This artist celebrates the sense of wonder at what he sees. To that end Daniel Anderson looks for a strong sense of light to wrap around the form, texture and fabric of an object, evoking meanings that may be placed onto film. Images are a result of an on-going love affair with Door County and the American Landscape in general.

Forward: A Survey of Wisconsin Art Now
The first juried Exhibition of Wisconsin Artists ever conducted at the Charles Allis Art Museum. The distinguished juror Elizabeth Smith, the James W. Alsdorf Chief Curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, will make the selections and award $3,000 in prizes.

Wisconsin Masters Series: Lucia Stern
The sixth artist featured in the Wisconsin Masters Series, Lucia Stern was largely a self-taught painter and sculptor. Born in Milwaukee, her work evolved over a 50-year period and encompassed decoupage, drawing, painting and sculpture, with an ever increasing emphasis on three dimensional works.
